History
After the First World War, the countries of the
world formed the League of Nations. This organization was a place where nations
could talk peacefully about their differences. However, some countries such as
Germany, Italy and Japan ignored the Union and tried to solve their problems
through war. The members of the League of Nations did not want to go to war to
protect other members and the League failed. World War II soon followed.
The Allies of World War II often called
themselves "United Nations" (united against the Axis Powers). After
the war, the victors formed a new organization for world peace. On 25 April
1945 in San Francisco, he decided to name the United Nations "United
Nations".
In June, he signed the United Nations Charter stating how the organization would function. The United Nations was created on 24 October 1945 and its first meeting was held in January 1946. 1947 to 24 October is called "United Nations Day", "United Nations Day".
In August 1941, US President Franklin
D. Roosevelt and British Minister of State Winston Churchill held a secret
meeting where they discussed the possibility of launching an international
peace effort. The charter was signed on 26 June 1945 by representatives from 50
countries. Poland, which was not represented at the conference, later signed on
and became one of the original 51 member states.
In order to fulfill the ideal
objectives of the UN, all the members of the UN unanimously prepared a charter
which became the basis of peace and mutual coordination called the United
Nations Charter.
The United Nations Charter sets four
main objectives: maintaining peace and security around the world. To develop
relations between nations. To promote cooperation among nations to solve
economic, social, cultural or humanitarian international problems.
Charters which are divided into 111 Articles, and include 19 Chapter.
The aim of
the UN is to establish central peace in any country,
But when the talks contradict the values of the League of Nations, the UN has also fought. The United Nations helped South Korea in the war against North Korea in the 1950s and in the 1990s the United Nations helped evacuate Iraqi troops from Kuwait.
